In the last month it has been very unsettling times for businesses and especially for recruitment. At Cobham Consulting we have seen employees made redundant, interviews cancelled, contracts changed or withdrawn.
Reading a BBC article today by Lora Jones regarding graduates, it mentioned a quarter of businesses are reducing the number of graduates they recruit this year, that internships will be down and work experience will be harder to find.
I was reading through this and thought this will reflect across all recruitment. So, how did we fix this in 2008/2009 during and after the recession and what extra can we do now to make sure we add the sparkle that will be required to make instant interest and gain that placement/get that interview.

1. Firstly, it will be that you can show real motivation for your destination with backed up evidence
2. Research of where the current jobs are
3. You will need to be unique “world class” even
4. You will need to use your networks, especially LinkedIn
5. A CV that is achievement led
6. When you get that interview you need to have researched, built rapport and shown how you can make that difference
